Itch Studio Ltd. (“us”, “we”, or “our”) operates the PoeticÁI mobile application (the “App”). This page explains what the App collects, what it sends, and what never leaves your device.
There is no account, no sign-in, and no email address. We do not ask for your name, and we do not know it. There is no advertising, no tracking, and no analytics of any kind. Your poems are stored on your device and we cannot read them.
To write a poem, the App has to send your choices to a server, because the AI model that writes it does not run on your phone. That request is described in full below, and it is the only thing the App sends.
Each time you ask for a poem, the App sends the following to our own server, which passes it to the AI provider that generates the text:
If you ask for an illustration, the App sends a description of the picture, built from the subject and the mood, along with the same installation identifier.
We do not send your name, your email address, your contacts, your location, your device identifiers, your IP address as a stored record, or anything else about you or your phone.
The first time the App needs to reach the server it generates a random identifier and stores it in your device Keychain. It is not your Apple ID, not your device's advertising identifier, and not anything the operating system gave us. It is a random value that means nothing outside our service.
We use it for one thing: rate limiting, so that a single installation cannot exhaust the service for everyone else. Deleting the App removes it. Reinstalling generates a new one.
Two fields accept free text: your own subject, and the name of the person a poem is for. Whatever you type there is sent to the AI model, because it has to be for the poem to be about what you asked for.
We keep counts of which preset choices are popular so we can decide what to add next. Those counts record the catalogue entry you picked, never the words you typed. A custom subject is counted as “a custom subject” and a dedication is counted as a yes or no, so free text and names never enter our aggregates. Please do not enter anything you would not want processed by a third-party AI service.
Requests go to a server operated by Itch Studio Ltd., which forwards them to xAI Corp., the provider of the AI model that writes the poem and draws the illustration. xAI processes the request in order to return a result, under its own published terms and privacy policy. We do not use a different provider without updating this page.
Purchases are handled by Apple. We never see or store your payment details. Apple tells the App only whether a purchase succeeded.
Those are the only two third parties involved. There is no advertising network, no analytics provider, and no crash-reporting service in the App.
None of this is uploaded, and none of it is public. There is no feed and no sharing unless you choose to share something yourself. Deleting the App deletes all of it, and we have no copy to delete on your behalf.
The poem returned to you is not stored on our server against your identifier. We cannot look up what you wrote.
If you choose to save an illustration, the App asks the operating system for permission to add it to your photo library. That permission is add-only: the App cannot read your photos, and it never does.
The App is intended for people aged 13 or over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Since the App has no account and asks for no personal details, there is generally nothing of that kind to collect. If you believe a child has supplied personal information through a message to us, contact us and we will delete it.
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR give you rights over personal data we hold about you, including access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability.
In practice we hold almost nothing. We have no account to look you up by and no way to connect an installation identifier to a person. If you write to us we will hold your message and your email address for as long as it takes to deal with it. If you want that deleted, ask and we will delete it.
Our lawful basis for processing a poem request is performance of a contract: you asked for a poem and we cannot provide one without sending the request. Our lawful basis for rate limiting is our legitimate interest in keeping the service available to everyone.
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office, or to your local supervisory authority in the EEA, if you think we have handled your data badly. We would rather you told us first.
Our server runs on Amazon Web Services in the United States, and xAI Corp. is also based in the United States. A poem request is therefore transferred outside the UK and the EEA in order to be answered. We rely on the data protection terms in our agreements with those providers to safeguard that transfer.
The request contains your choices and any words you typed. It does not contain your name, your email address, or any identifier we could use to find you.
Requests between the App and our server are sent over HTTPS and are signed, so a request cannot be altered in transit or replayed later. The AI provider's key is held in a managed secrets store on our infrastructure and is never present in the App.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we do not hold a database of personal data that would be worth attacking.
We may update this policy. The version on this page is the current one and the date at the top tells you when it last changed. Where a change is significant we will say so in the App before it takes effect.

This policy is governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protection of any mandatory data protection and consumer law in the country you live in.
